First Year’s Snow for a Blind Girl

2023 winter is coming.

Did it snow?

I’ll never know

I must venture outside.

Hand out stuck

Looking to pluck

A snowflake from the sky.

Nothing yet

A few more steps

I guess the snow’s not here.

Wait! A breeze

From behind me

I turn. It came from where?

Just like that

The snow goes SPLAT

On my face. Winter’s here.

A view looking out the front window to show lots of snow falling from a dark sky.

Author’s Note: It’s new again this year, so I’m still excited about snow at this point. Feeling it hit me in the face was a nice little “hello!” from Mother Nature. In a few weeks, I’m not going to be so happy to say “hello!” back.

Oh my! That's so early for snow! Or it seems early to me, down here in Texas where our snows are rare. Which I can live with, truth be told.
Kind of rude for Mother Nature to smack you in the face like that, just to say hello. LOL

Sweet poem.

I am not very fond of snow myself.
Nice poem, Heather.
Take care.
