From a blind user of Medium, thank you, thank you, thank you for also shining a light on this accessibility feature. One note I would like to put out there, however, that a lot of people are not aware of is this: just because you added alt text to your images, doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to "see" it. Here on Medium, if you add alt text to your post, I will hear it if I am using my computer. If I am listening to articles from my phone, however, it doesn't read the alt text. Unfortunately, most of my article reading is done on my phone and not on my computer, so if there is alt text, I'm not aware of it. It is a Medium flaw about which I have emailed them without any changes yet. I have seen the same thing happen on FB. It is frustrating when the writer is trying, but the platform isn't following through to make sure their features work everywhere.
